Beth Bouffard, LAC, MSTCM

After several years of involvement with alternative economies and communities, Beth found herself pulled back toward medicine. She looked around the communities she was part of and saw that many people did not have access to health care that empowered them to make positive choices about their health. Knowing that she had a natural inclination to help people, she was inspired to look for ways she could offer alternative health care. Not knowing exactly what she was looking for, or where to find it, she started with the study of Shiatsu (a Japanese form of massage based in Chinese medicine) at the San Francisco School of Massage. After her initial three month training she was hooked. The philosophy of Chinese medicine resonated deeply with her and the artistry in the language, theory, and practice of the medicine captured her imagination.

Beth now works as a licensed acupuncturist and massage therapist at Root & Stem Integrative Chinese Medicine in Oakland. She believes that health means living fully in our bodies and in touch with the cyclical changes of the world around us. Healing is a matter of finding ways to connect with and respond to the messages our body (earth) and environment (heaven) are sending us. When this happens we can fully experience and express our humanity. Beth aims to support people in connecting to the inherent wisdom of their bodies and Nature so their own natural healing ability and rhythms emerge.
